In support of Virginia’s commitment to inclusion, individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply for state government jobs in Virginia through the Alternative Hiring Process (AHP).
An applicant with a disability (as defined in Code of Virginia 51.5-40.1) and who has an approved AHP Letter provided by DARS, or the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) is eligible for participation in the AHP.
The letter can be submitted alongside any application for state jobs in Virginia, allows for a noncompetitive hiring process, and in some cases affords you priority consideration. Applicants will still need to meet necessary job qualifications.
