Senior Cool Care, sponsored by Dominion Energy, helps low-income older adults in Virginia stay cool during the hot summer months. The program runs from May 1 through the end of October.
Eligible seniors living in Dominion Energy’s service area and who meet eligibility requirements can receive a fan, window air conditioner, or portable air conditioner to help beat the heat.
Who is eligible?
- Older adults who are aged 60 or older,
- Live below 150% of the poverty level,
- And need additional cooling at home.

How does it work?
- If you are an eligible adult, please apply through your local Area Agency on Aging (AAA). View this list of participating AAAs [pdf] between May 1 and October 31.
- The AAA disburses the item (delivery or pick-up options vary by AAA).
- Once provided, the unit belongs to you; you do not need to return it. AAAs cannot fix, repair or replace a broken unit.
This program does not pay for delivery or installation of air conditioners or electricity bills. If bill payment assistance is needed, the senior may apply through EnergyShare’s bill payment program.
