The Division for Aging Services coordinates services and supports to older Virginians, through the network of Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs).

Resources and temporary relief for caregivers.
Disease Prevention & Wellness
Programs which can include exercise, fall prevention and disease prevention or management.
Driving & Transportation
For medical appointments, errands, or social programs.
In-Home Services
Help with bathing, dressing, housekeeping, checking, or chores
Legal Assistance
Works to increase the quantity and quality of legal services for seniors.
Medicare Counseling
VICAP offers free help for people trying to understand and navigate Medicare.
Nutrition & Meals
Providing nutritious meals at home or in group settings.
Senior Cool Care
Helps low-income older adults in Virginia stay cool during the hot summer months.
Local Departments of Social Services
Your local department of social services may also offer homemaker, chore or companion services and other long-term care assistance for eligible adults (those looking to avoid institutionalization or who qualify for Medicaid or the Auxiliary Grant). Spots can be limited based on funding.
Services for Adults with Disabilities
Sometimes with age comes physical, mental or sensory disabilities, and greater support is needed. DARS has several program to help individuals with disabilities continue to live at home and independently.
