
Adult Protective Services oversees 120 local departments of social services throughout Virginia that respond to reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation and provide a variety of important services to adults in their communities.

Adult Protective Services
Older adults and people with disabilities are more at risk for abuse, neglect, and exploitation. APS works to protect their safety, dignity, and well-being.
In-Home Services
Local departments of social services may offer homemaker, chore, or companion services to eligible adults.
Long-Term Care Screenings & Assisted Living Assessments
For adults seeking placement into long-term care through Medicaid or the Auxiliary Grant.
Staff
Reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation are handled at the local level. Get in touch directly with your local departments of social services.
