Senior Employment Program

DARS’ Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) helps low-income, unemployed adults age 55 and older get back into the workforce by connecting them with part-time, paid job training in their communities. While having a disability is not an eligibility factor, those with disabilities have priority of service.

If you’re looking for work and have a limited income, SCSEP can help you:

  • Gain valuable work experience
  • Build confidence and new skills
  • Earn income while serving your community
  • Prepare for permanent jobs with local employers

Participants are placed in part-time roles at places like schools, libraries, health centers, and nonprofit organizations. Common jobs include clerical work, teacher’s aides, librarian assistants, and similar roles.

SCSEP is designed to help you build a path toward long-term employment. Many participants go on to find permanent jobs in the public or private sector.

As part of the program, you may also:

  • Be connected with employers who are looking for reliable, experienced workers
  • Get support through DARS services, including help with job searches, training, or assistive technology if needed

Older workers bring experience, reliability, and strong work ethic—and we’re here to help you shine.
