Caregiver Support

Nearly 1 in 5 Virginians serve in a family caregiving role. Caregiving for loved ones can be overwhelming and gratifying.

Programs administered by the Area Agencies on Aging provide support to caregivers by focusing on the well-being of the caregiver by providing access to needed formal or informal supports such as respite, caregiver support groups, or individual counseling.

DARS also offers programs such as the Lifespan Respite Voucher and a resource guide for caregivers.

Caregivers can also get involved by joining the Virginia Caregiver Coalition.

Virginia Caregiver Coalition 

The VCC is committed to improving the caregiving experience through education, advocacy, and access to resources. The VCC meet every other month for networking, training, education, brainstorming and resource sharing. Membership is free!
